More about living life with enthusiasm!!!

More about living life with enthusiasm!!!

For me living life with enthusiasm is the only way to live.  Remembering that we are children of God. Created in the image and likeness of God, we are called to live our life from that consciousness. That is……we are to live our lives knowing that without “Life’s Energy,” we can not do anything, we are in God and God is in us. Remember the root words of enthusiasm….en = in + Theos = God… in God is the main motivation to live life fully. Being willing to take risks, trusting that even when we make mistakes, we will learn from them and do better next time. Remembering that life is full of surprises and when we are able to accept life on life’s terms we find peace, no matter what is happening.

For years I’ve said….and thought I was quoting the bible, “We are to be in the world but not of the world.” Well I found out this morning that there’s several scriptures in the bible that addresses this thought but not exactly as I’ve stated it above. Instead I found a quote from the Sufi tradition that says it all.

“To be ‘in the world, but not of it,’ free from ambition, greed, intellectual pride, blind obedience to custom, or awe of persons higher in rank; that is the Sufi ideal.”

What the bible says in Romans 12:2 is in alignment with the Sufi thought.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For me this says it all. So how do we renew our minds. The first thought that comes to me is to first….act as if you know who you are. “A child of God!” Then live your life from that place.

Easier said than done. Living this way becomes a practice that we never do perfectly. In fact we fall short many times but…..we keep on going, looking forward to what is next. For me that’s being enthusiastic.

Let yourself be led. Knowing that you are being guided and no matter what, “all is well.”

Matthew 19:26.  “With God, all things are possible”…..yes all things!!!

These are my thoughts for today.

Remember to feed your soul.

Love and Blessings Galore!!!

Enthusiasm!!! I’m one of three wise women that meets once a month to share life stories. We have decided to be a little more disciplined about what we talk about and are using a little book called, “The Breath of the Soul,” Reflections on prayer….by Joan Chittister.

Just to wet your appetite for reading this book here are a few of the other topic. Self-knowledge, Responsibility, Discipline, Constancy to name a few. We will be going though this book for as long as we agree it’s what “Spirit,” wants us to do. And…..duh…..I’ll be writing what I learn and experience on this blog. As usual I would love to hear from you about your reaction to what I write and anything you are willing to share about your experiences.

O.K. So the 49ers lost the opportunity to go to the “Super Bowl.” Disappointed yes, but not for long. I entered into the experience of watching the 49ers play with high expectations but I also was willing to let go of the out come. For me that’s an important way to experience life in general. Having high expectations, setting goals, having a positive attitude no matter what, doing what I can to accomplish those goals and then get this!!!….The secret to being enthusiastic about it all….is letting go of the outcome. Trusting that what happens is the highest and best, all the way around, no matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like because for me, letting go is very powerful. It opens me up to learning more about myself and what is possible when I trust and move forward no matter what. This way of dealing with life says to the “Universe” I accept life on life’s terms and look forward to what is next….there’s always more!!!

Stayed tuned….there’s more!!!

Remember to feed your soul!!!

Love, Anne

How can we live life with enthusiasm?

How can we live life with enthusiasm?

My experience is that…..”Life happens while you are planning it!”  How I handle those changes and interruptions makes all the difference in the world. I’ve been taught and do my best to live with high expectations held loosely in my hands. I expect the best and stay open to what life wants to bring to me. Over time I’ve come to realize that everything that happens has a lesson in it. As much as I’d like to be in charge, most of the time I no longer have to have my own way. Sometimes I am able to let go easily and sometimes I try momentarily to hold on tight. and have difficulty letting go, but always….and I mean always when I let go, everything does work out for the best.

Being willing to live life this way brings many surprises. Some can be called trivial but even then the experience boosts us and brings us joy.

I was born in San Francisco and so were all my siblings. Many years ago my brothers had 49’er season tickets. During those years they were avid fans and attended all the games. They even continued to go to games long after most fans gave up.

Up until recently, I knew very little about the game and found it boring to watch. When I found out that the 49’ers were two games away from the Super Bowl something happened inside of me. Not only did I sit and watch the game but all of sudden the game came alive for me and I became a screaming fan. My enthusiasm soared.

I never understood this infantile reaction to what I thought was a silly game and was critical of others that behaved this way. Infantile maybe……child like yes!!! Enthusiastic yes!!! We are called to be child like. Children are enthusiastic about everything. Just watch them.

Bob was pleased that I watched the game. But what impressed him more was that I saw a play completed before he did. My screaming got his attention and he was shocked that I saw what was happening before he did.

Here’s another surprise, when I heard that New York Giants were playing the next day and that the results of that game would determine who would play the 49’ers, I ended up watching the New York Giants game and rooting for them, so the next game would be played in San Francisco and give the 49’ers a a bit of an edge. Now, I’m excited that they are playing again on Sunday and can hardly wait to watch.

I think the secret is to keep our hearts and minds open and to be present to life as best we can, do what we are led to do and most of all enjoy it all!!!

So bottom line what am I saying here??? First of all we are never too old to learn something new and enjoy it even if we never did before. For some reason I let go of my old ideas about football. I concentrated on the game, began to understand what was happening and became fully engaged in it all. I was living in the present moment, open to what was happening and participating fully. What a joy filled surprise that was for me and for Bob. I’m now open to more enthusiastic experiences. I wonder what will happen next? I expect more miracles and I hope you do too.

The Greek root for the word enthusiasm is….. en-, in + theos., god

For me, living in God is the only way to live!!!

Remember to feed your soul.
